Pottsgrove School District is committed to a learning environment free of bullying and harassment. We implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), in all five schools as a preventative measure to bullying, harassment, and discrimination.

What is PBIS?

PBIS is a research-based framework that teaches and supports positive behaviors for ALL students, focusing on building a safe, positive environment. Key aspects include:

  • Teaching Positive Behaviors: Clear expectations for behavior in all settings.
  • Consistent Reinforcement: Rewards and praise for positive behavior.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Using data to identify and address behavioral issues.
  • Early Intervention: Supporting students struggling with behavior early on.

The benefits of implementing PBIS include:
Fewer behavioral issues
More instructional time
Better attendance for student success.

Book of the Month

Dear Ringing Rocks Families,

We hope you are looking forward to a year filled with learning, discovery, adventures, friendships, and BOOKS!  This year, we will continue to celebrate our love of literacy by reading wonderful books together.  Books have potential to create lasting impressions.  They have the power to instill empathy, affirm a child’s sense of self, teach about others, and inspire young readers and writers.

Book of the Month is a school-wide initiative to strengthen our community of growing learners and citizens.  The books we will read each month will connect to a monthly focus.  Each monthly focus will engage our community in learning ways to care for ourselves, each other, and our school.  Books can lead to great discussions with our children.  Sharing one story every month helps unite our school community.  We LOVE reading books together!

Each month, all students will hear the same book in their classroom.  Students will discuss the book in school with their teachers and classmates. They will have the opportunity to read the book again at home and share a conversation with their family.   The classroom book will go home with one child each night. It will rotate through the class until each child has had a chance to read and discuss the book with their family.  There is also the option to scan a barcode for each book and watch it on video.

Now that you know all about Book of the Month, don’t forget to ask your child about the new book every month and keep an eye out for it in your child’s backpack!  Encourage your child to share their thoughts with you and your family.

Thank you for helping us build our learning community!
